Yes folks, here it is again, that time of year (which happens now and again without any perceptible calendar) when I confess something shocking.
I read Twilight, and I didn't hate it. I wasn't a fan of her writing, and I didn't find it paritcularly believable (but come on, it's "fantasy"), but it was a quick, easy read that I actually enjoyed, much the same way that Chamber of Secrets is a quick, easy read but not a terribly good book.
So, I will be borrowing more books, in all likelihood. Because everyone needs a good dose of romance novel, in whatever form it may take.
Signing off.
*salutes*

So Sarah and I (no, not you douxquemiel, this is little Sarah who has no LJ) and I were discussing how amusing it is when our parents have selective (or not so selective) amnesia. In my case, it's my friends. I need to find a way to relate any friends I have to an existing friend that my mother has met, otherwise she will have no idea who I'm talking about. Following are the friends she knows by name: Nelle ( sekala), Emily ( killerbeautiful), Linds ( linaeloisetook), Steph ( halfdreams), and Mizza ( oimizza). Anyone else requires explanation. I'll give you a couple of examples. ( I'm cutting the actual conversations, because they're long, but funny... )So my idea is that I should make my mom laminated prints with pictures of all my friends so that my mother has the information at her fingertips. No more asking me who exactly all of my friends are, she can just read down the list, find the name, picture and description and then we'll both be all set. She won't need to ask and I won't need to tell her for the 50th time who Becky is. Tags: family, friends f e e l i n g :: amused

My boss came up to me several minutes ago, stood next to my desk, and asked me the following question: "There's a word that sounds like 'eligible' which means that something is messy and impossible to read. For example, if I send a fax and the person can't read it because the ink got smudged, they'll use this word." The word was, of course, illegible, which does sound very similar to eligible. I wrote down the word and it's meaning, as well as legible's, on a post it, and she laughed and called me a human dictionary. This just goes to show you that there are some benefits to a liberal arts education, especially when your boss doesn't speak English as their first language. It's days like these when I love my job! f e e l i n g :: amused

Dear Gmail, Whatever is wrong, will you please fix yourself? This email is muy importante. If I cannot save, I cannot do something else. If I cannot send, I cannot do something else. Basically, you are holding me hostage on one screen. It is both unnecessary and cruel, and making me very sad. Please consider being nice. Thank you. ** And in other news, I am effing exhausted from staying up watching the Olympics last night. For those who have not watched, figure out a way to watch the women's all-around gymnastics. For those who did, please comment below. Again for those who didn't, don't read comments if you don't want to be spoiled. That is, assuming I get comments :D Tags: olympics, technical difficulties f e e l i n g :: tired

Back in the time when I didn't know what e-mail really was, and when I only used my dad's computer to play games, there was a game that I remember vaguely that I want to find again. However, I can't remember the name of this game and I can't remember what the guy you moved around the screen looked like. Here is what I do remember:
*There were like a hundred levels to the game (okay, probably not that many, but still a lot).
*You moved a guy around the screen, there were obstacles, and you had to pick up things. I believe the background was grey blocks.
*There were elements of fire, water, ice, and electricity that you could not touch without special shoes (ice skates, fire boots, etc.), which you picked up as you went along.
*I remember certain areas on the playing board (like transports?) that were a very bright turquoise and blue. I think there were conveyer belts at some points as well.
*When you moved to a new level you were given a password so that when you opened the game up again you could skip to that level.
Now, I'm fairly sure that this was a game for Windows 95 or around that time. Does ANYONE know what I'm talking about? I loved this frickin game so much, and I'm just trying to remember what it is in the hopes that I'll be able to find it again someday!

The Yankees have just pulled off a breathtaking victory over the Chicago White Sox (who are Awful and Devious and Evil) and have returned to their communal antechamber post-game to revel in their victory. Several armchairs sit in a circle, a mahogany sidetable sits to the right of each chair, and each chair is occupied by a player. The one empty chair has a velvet scarf draped over the back, with the name "Damon" embroidered along one end.
Giambi: puffs on cigar proudly I say chaps, an excellent match this evening. I have never been more proud to be a Yankee.
Jeter: chortles We assuredly gave them what for, did we not? grins like Jeter (you know the one) and turns to Posada
Posada: shrugs Whatever man, I'm just the catcher.
A-Rod: laughs A modest gentleman, that he is! sips from glass of double malt scotch. You are far too modest! Were it not for your dilligent catching, how could we possibly prevail?
A resounding chorus of "Here, here!"s
There is an ear-shattering crash as Damon enters, slipping on the floor with a towel clutched around his waist.
Damon: Yo, what'd I miss? looks around Dudes, wasn't the plan to get crunk-ass if we won?
Giambi: rolls his eyes What a plebian.
Damon: blinks A ple-what?
Jeter: Mimics I believe the vernacular would be "fo shizzle."
A-Rod: Very disappointing. Don't you think? nods to Rivera
Rivera: shrugs No se muchachos. to A-Rod Como se dice "donde estan las prostitutas y cervesas" en ingles?"
Damon: raises hand to high-five Dude, I may not be a Mexican, but I know what "prostituta" means! Wooorrrdddd mah homie!
Rivera: Soy Panameno, fool.

A repeat of last week's smash hit. Maybe not smash. More points this time. More blanks this time. Less Beatles this time. Good luck. Also, PUBLIC. Haven't posted publicly for years. Literally. 1. Put your iTunes, iPod, or other media player or MP3 storage device on shuffle. 2. Take down the first 25 songs that are played. 3. Pick a lyric from each song, then take out a word or two from the lyric you pick. 4. Post the lyrics for your Flist to guess. 5. You get POINTS for guessing the words in the blanks, the song title, and the artist. NO CHEATING! EX: Oh baby _____, how was I supposed to know? <-- Three possible points, one for baby, one for Britney Spears, and one for "Baby One More Time." 6. Fill in the answers as they are guessed. ( TOTAL POINTS: 144 )GOOD LUCK!

So, I said I'd post this because it was at once very creepy and very cool. So cool, in fact, that I hit the snooze button like three times so that I could go back to sleep on the outside chance that the dream would continue. AND it did. Which is pretty damn cool. So, I'm cutting for length here, because it's pretty complicated. ( So, aliens invaded Earth. )That's the dream in a nutshell. I think the aliens came from inside the Earth, not outer space, and had been underground for millenia. Which makes me think that once -we- all were driven down into the underground Church, were we going to thrive down there, grow technologically advanced, and resurface in thousands of years only to re-take over the world we had once owned and drive the unfortunate other beings living on the surface of the planet underground, thus perpetuating the cycle of death and destruction? So.
